I did not take up the study of...
I did not take up the study of Christian Science primarily for healing but for a higher understanding of God. When this Science was presented to me I found that it was the answer to many questions not satisfyingly answered for me by the orthodox religions in their teachings of the Bible, which I had been trying to understand.
Some years ago I was wonderfully protected in a motorcar accident. The car got out of control and crashed into a telegraph pole. In the instant before the crash I realized clearly that God is caring for and protecting man always. The car was wrecked, and I was thrown partly through the windshield, yet all four occupants escaped with only slight cuts and bruises.
I am grateful for many healings, some of them instantaneous, experienced through the application of Christian Science. They include healings of influenza and heart trouble, as well as the removal of a stone from the kidney. Mrs. Eddy tells us (Science and Health, p. 463), "A spiritual idea has not a single element of error, and this truth removes properly whatever is offensive." Among the many ills overcome for my grandchildren were diphtheria and scarlet fever, the latter condition being healed instantaneously.
