"Let us banish sickness as an outlaw,...

"Let us banish sickness as an outlaw, and abide by the rule of perpetual harmony,—God's law." This statement of Mrs. Eddy's on page 381 of Science and Health was very helpful to me recently in overcoming hay fever. I had suffered from an aggravated form of this condition since childhood. So deeply ingrained was my bondage to it that every year at a certain time I would curtail all outdoor activity and remain at home to sneeze and be miserable. I tried to overcome the condition, but with no success.

The words of Paul (Acts 22:28), "I was free born," made me question the legitimacy of my bondage. I knew that God had made all things pure and that He had not made a pollen-laden and sneeze-producing atmosphere. Also I remembered these words from Science and Health (p. 14): "Become conscious for a single moment that Life and intelligence are purely spiritual,— neither in nor of matter,—and the body will then utter no complaints. If suffering from a belief in sickness, you will find yourself suddenly well." The realization of the truth of these words brought my healing, and I was free. I am happy to say that on days when the newspaper recorded the pollen as being at its height I was undisturbed and harmonious. This experience is just one more proof of the ever-availability of God's loving care.

My deepest gratitude goes out to God, the great I AM, to Christ Jesus, our Way-shower, and to Mrs. Eddy, our Leader, without whose steadfastness in the face of adversity we would not have this great religion.—(Mrs.) Margaret Jean Maurer, Rocky River, Ohio.
