I am so deeply grateful for...

I am so deeply grateful for Christian Science and for the great good it has unfolded to me through the years that I feel this testimony is long overdue.

I have had many healings, among them those of scarlet fever and the tobacco habit; the latter left me after the healing of the former. My great longing before coming into Christian Science was to discover a purpose for existing: how to be and to do good. I shall never forget the glorious sense of freedom which came when I realized that it is in divine Truth that true selfhood is found. I have been greatly blessed and fortified by cherishing the statement of Mary Baker Eddy in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 87), "The true concept is never lost." Much timidity has been overcome, and the sweet confidence of friendship, which is evidence of Love's provision, has been provided me to help in this direction.

The following healing of a longstanding condition is given in the hope that it may encourage others to press on with the truth until error is self-destroyed. In 1943 I was healed of a growth which had persisted for seven years. I worked metaphysically but was beleaguered at times with aggressive fear as the growth enlarged. I asked myself, "Would I have an operation?" I knew that I would not under any circumstances resort to medical science. Then came the suggestion, "Suppose it kills you;" and I replied: "What if it does? I should still have to work out the problem of being."
