THE ANSWER TO INFLATION

One of the most valuable aspects of Christian Science is its capacity to nullify harsh tendencies in the human economy, The evil of inflation, now engaging the earnest attention of world governments, claims to deprive many of their legitimate needs and to hit hardest those on so-called fixed incomes, especially the wage earner and the pensioner. But any honest student of Science can prove this claim to be powerless to rob him.

Christian Science demonstrates the heartening fact that man—the real and only man—carries or includes within himself as the compound idea of God, who is Mind, his complete supply; and because the source of his supply is God, it is not affected by the vagaries of human economics. Whence, then, arise the confusions and fears, the fluctuating values, the lack? From a mistaken concept of God and man; from the mist that arose from the earth; from the Adam-dream. For man is not a mortal, dependent on person or pension or state—or even on a human vocation—for his needs. He is a spiritual idea, dependent entirely upon his creator. He has an abundance of supply or right spiritual ideas because he dwells in the bosom of the Father.

On page 14 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mary Baker Eddy writes, "Entirely separate from the belief and dream of material living, is the Life divine, revealing spiritual understanding and the consciousness of man's dominion over the whole earth." It is essential in working out any problem in Christian Science to maintain a clear sense of this separation between the unreal and the real. This is the firmament, or understanding, which man reflects as an untrammeled and glorious idea of Mind. He is conscious of his dominion and of his ability to reflect only love and right activity.
