Signs of the Times
M. Jane Scott in a column in the Globe and Mail Toronto, Ontario, Canada
When one begins to count his blessings and to give thanks to God for the good things and the good friends he has, something begins to happen in his mind. . . . Try to form the habit of daily thanksgiving; it will work wonders in your thinking; it will work still greater miracles in your prayers; and it will have a beneficial effect on your physical and mental health.
There is a particularly timely example tucked away in the story of Job. . . . The book of Job unfolds the lament of a man in physical, mental, and spiritual depression. Then in chapter 42 (v. 10) we read, "And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before."
