OF A SOUND MIND
IN her textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy makes these clear and convincing statements (p. 469): "Mind is God. The exterminator of error is the great truth that God, good, is the only Mind, and that the supposititious opposite of infinite Mind—called devil or evil—is not Mind, is not Truth, but error, without intelligence or reality."
If we accept the truth that God is the only Mind, this truth disposes of the question of minds many. When the divine consciousness of good is made manifest in the consciousness of the individual and is persistently maintained by him, his success is certain and his substance enduring. In the measure that perfect God and perfect man is the basis for thought and action, to that extent one frees himself from the enslaving belief that there is a mind apart from God.
In "Miscellaneous Writings" our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, says (p. 204): "By purifying human thought, this state of mind permeates with increased harmony all the minutiæ of human affairs. It brings with it wonderful foresight, wisdom, and power; it unselfs the mortal purpose, gives steadiness to resolve, and success to endeavor." To purify human thought one must have one God, one Mind, and acknowledge no other.
