"Thine, O Lord, is the greatness...

"Thine, O Lord, is the greatness, and the power, and the glory, and the victory, and the majesty" (I Chron. 29:11). I give to God all the glory for the following healing.

Our small son was taken ill with infantile paralysis and was removed to the hospital, as required by law. The medical reports were fearful, to mortal sense, but a loving Christian Science practitioner pointed out to me that no false claim could attach itself to the son of God. Much consecrated study was done by the practitioner and myself, and after some time the hospital authorities were approached to see if the child could come home. I was informed that it would be very expensive to have physiotherapy treatment for him at home, as well as a doctor in attendance. I replied that he would most certainly receive treatment and that I had my own physician. I was referring to the one and only physician, God, and to treatment in Christian Science. After we had signed a form stating that we were taking our son from the hospital at our own risk, he was released.

When he came home he was tightly bandaged across the abdomen with wide adhesive tape to keep the stomach muscles in position, and the skin was torn and raw from repeated replacing of the tape. The practitioner asked me to study the following passage from page 257 of "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" by Mrs. Eddy: "To the awakened consciousness, the Bethlehem babe has left his swaddling-clothes (material environments) for the form and comeliness of the divine ideal, which has passed from a corporeal to the spiritual sense of Christ and is winning the heart of humanity with ineffable tenderness." Then, by knowing that all adhesion belongs to Mind, that Truth is the only attraction, and that Love is always tenderly caring for its ideas, we were able to remove the tape very easily.
