Christian Science has been my guide, mentally and physically, for about twenty years. Through it, financial supply has been met. For a number of years, another's support seemed to be a problem to me. I was not consciously resentful, but the money to take care of this expense always seemed difficult to set aside. Finally, one day it came to me that God does not take from one to give to another. The truth of this seemed as clear and simple as if I had already seen it in operation. Within a day or two a long-distance call came from someone I had met only once, with an offer of an out-of-town job with more money. While I did not take it, it caused my own company to offer me an increase in salary, which took care of half the obligation that had seemed a burden.

One day while giving a fashion show for a newspaper of made-at-home fashions, I saw a perfect demonstration of the truth that God is Love and ever present. It was planned that each person who had entered a garment should be permitted to model it in the show. Racks of garments were being brought to the auditorium where several hundred people waited to model the clothes they had made. But an unforeseen obstacle presented itself: we were refused permission to take the garments up in the passenger elevator, and the racks were too wide for the freight elevator. While the garments were being taken up a few at a time by hand, the crowd grew restless, disappointed, and angry. Many started to leave. Nothing could be done to hurry the clothes upstairs, and it seemed that the show was to be a failure. In this extremity I telephoned a practitioner. Immediately the change became apparent. Quiet ensued. People came to the exit doors, but they offered to help, instead of leaving; and when the show went on, though more informal than originally planned, it was a complete success.

Once I sought help from a practitioner for a painful ear condition which seemed not to yield to my own work. For a few days it still was no better, but suddenly I not only was healed of the ear trouble, but also experienced the greatest progress I had yet made up to that time. My ears truly opened to listen to the still small voice.
