The beauty and simplicity of...

The beauty and simplicity of Christian Science are exemplified in the opening paragraph of the Preface to Science and Health where our Leader, Mrs. Eddy, says (p. vii), "To those leaning on the sustaining infinite, to-day is big with blessings." It has been my happy privilege for many years to prove the efficacy of this Science.

I should like to relate a healing of a soft corn. The soreness and severe pain which from time to time prevented my walking with ease demanded a great deal of attention, and at one time a chiropodist told me that because I would not wear flat shoes, the only thing that could be done to keep the soreness down would be to place a piece of gauze saturated with camphor between the toes. This I did for many years, the camphor being the last form of medication to be laid aside after I took up the study of Christian Science. There was no healing, and the discomfort continued to return occasionally.

As my appreciation of Christian Science grew, church membership, which demanded a more scientific approach to my daily living, was urging itself upon me. One morning the pain from the corn was so sudden and intense that I stopped, and as I lifted my foot from the floor for relief, I declared, "I am spiritually mental." Instantly the condition was forgotten. Later that day the corn came out, proving the unreality of matter, with its accompanying pain or pleasure, and the power of the correct application of the law of Principle.
