It is impossible for me to express...

It is impossible for me to express in words my gratitude for Christian Science. My mother became interested in this wonderful religion shortly after our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, made an inspiring address in Chicago in 1888. Many beautiful healings were accomplished in our family, and as the result of my mother's clear understanding of the truth, friends also received healings.

During those early years my brother, who was then about two years of age, fell from a second-story window to the pavement below. The child, apparently lifeless, was carried in to my mother. She held him on her lap, realizing that God was his Life. Neighbors who had come in begged her to call a doctor. She looked up at an insistent woman and said, "Can a doctor give this child life?" A Christian Science practitioner was asked for help, and within a short time my brother sat up. He was healed, to the astonishment of many of those present.

I am grateful that I was reared in a home where I was given an opportunity to study Christian Science and that I made an effort to live it. Our son has also been brought up in Christian Science, and it has been his only physician. When he was about three, a large lump appeared behind each ear, and he suffered continually. He was under Christian Science treatment for about two weeks, and in our home we read, studied, prayed, and sang, trying to see the unreality of the condition. I did not know the name of the disease, and I became very much discouraged; so one morning I went to the practitioner's office and told him my state of mind. He spoke encouraging words of truth to me, and I left his office spiritually refreshed.
