Over forty years have passed since Christian Science first came to my family. I was a small boy then, and my mother turned to it for help.

As a result of the application of Christian Science in our home my father's business recovered and became prosperous, my mother's health improved, and we were no longer plagued with a continual succession of so-called children's diseases. Life to me became a joy which has been growing throughout the years. Even trials and sufferings were softened as it was seen that these were opportunities to prove God's care, and each one has brought much spiritual growth. My joy in life lies in daily demonstrating Christian Science.

While in a chemical laboratory at college, I had the opportunity to prove the Principle of "the scientific statement of being" (Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, p. 468) when alcohol, which spilled on my hand, was ignited. The suffering and effects of the burn passed quickly when I realized that this statement was a statement of divine law, not a hypothesis. I was completely healed of kidney stones and the accompanying suffering when I learned to be grateful.
