I first learned of Christian Science through a physical healing of my mother. She had not been able to move her right arm for a long time and was told that because of her extreme age, her arm would never be any better. However, through the help of a practitioner she was completely healed.

Due to lesion of the lungs I was very weak. The doctors at the dispensary where I had gone for treatment forbade me to work for fear of infecting those near me. One night the Gestapo came looking for me, and I was forced to flee from my home and hide in a small place where I lived for ten months without heat or warm food. During this time my mother took me to her practitioner. She spoke in a language new to me, but I was able to understand that I need have no fear and that evil had no power to harm me. I threw all the medicine away and confidently put myself in God's hands. I diligently read the works of our dear Leader, Mrs. Eddy, and in a short time I was completely healed. After the liberation of my country the doctor sent for me. He examined me and was surprised to find that my lungs were without spot or trace of lesion.
