LISTEN

If one would learn a subject and progress in it, careful listening is indispensable. Failure to listen to any proffered and provable good prevents one's acceptance of it and thus retards one's progress.

Beautiful strains of music exist only for those who listen. Spoken messages of friendly helpfulness and usable information are nonexistent to the one who does not listen. The naturalist would be without the joy and harmony of the songs of the birds and other welcome sounds of the forest if he did not listen.

The trained and listening ear often hears sounds unknown to others, but natural and beautiful to the one who with understanding and receptivity listens for notes of harmony. But the greatest help and inspiration to everyone is the still, small voice of Truth, ever urging the human consciousness to listen to its loving counsels, which lead to progress and peace. In the midst of sin, disease, or any other discord that precious still, small voice can be heard, and if heeded its calm messages of spiritual reality will dispel the claims of material sense, however severe they seem to be.
