TRIALS PROVE GOD'S CARE

Christian Scientists are sometimes confronted with the question of why healings frequently come quickly to the one who has just taken up the study of Christian Science, but later, as he continues to grow in the truth, the solution of problems sometimes seems to be long drawn out.

Frequently doubt appears to argue with human consciousness, Why am I not healed as quickly as previously, since I have studied diligently and prayed over this difficulty for a long time? Many such tormenting arguments, which are actually only self-mesmerism, puzzle the student until he finds that only through complete reliance on Truth and a better understanding of Science than he ever had before can he gain his complete freedom from the error.

One may have had help from a Christian Science practitioner at various times, in obedience to the admonition given by our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" (p. 420), "If students do not readily heal themselves, they should early call an experienced Christian Scientist to aid them." Yet the student may wonder why, as his understanding increases, his trials seem to continue.
