STEADFASTNESS

Steadfast consciousness of good gives one power over evil, whereas a faltering faith invites failure. Christian Science gives reason for steadfastness and shows its students the way to defeat instability. It reveals the divine Principle and rule whereby constant adherence to the spiritually real is proved natural and doubt is cast out as sin.

The Principle of all real being is God, the one divine Mind, and man is the idea of Mind—the expression of changeless Principle, and not the wavering, doubting mortal one sometimes seems to be. Man knows only spiritual reality, God and His perfect universe, and his steadfastness in Truth is a divine and eternal fact. Man never loses his consciousness of reality. Steadfastness in good is his true and natural state. The rule of Christian Science is to grasp this fact and to deny existence to the changeable state of mind that believes in good one moment and in evil the next.

The age in which we live is a challenge to the Scientist's steadfast loyalty to Truth. Deep discernment of eternally established spiritual truths and knowledge of error's unreality are needed if one is to keep his serenity in the face of evil's threats and contribute to their destruction.
