It is with a heart overflowing...

It is with a heart overflowing with gratitude for Christian Science that I give the following testimony. While I was out marketing one day, I stepped on a nail, which ran through the sole of my shoe into my foot. Several days later I was doing some important work and had only a short lunch period. My stocking had become stuck to the bandage on my foot, and in order to release it I went to the bathroom and placed my foot in a large basin of water. At the same time I heated an electric curling iron to curl up the ends of my hair, and when I had finished, I started pulling out the plug from a loose socket in the wall. I was immediately seized with a violent shock, and the fingers of my right hand became tightly locked around the iron. I remember trying to open my hand with the fingers of my left hand, and crying, "God is my Life;" then everything went blank.

Later, on regaining consciousness, I found that when I had become unconscious, my head had struck the faucets of the bathtub and the hot curling iron had fallen across my cheek. I immediately began working in Christian Science to know that power belongs to God, and also that "destructive electricity is not the offspring of infinite good," as Mrs. Eddy writes in Science and Health (p. 93). Soon through tears, not of fear, but of rejoicing, the following words from a hymn in the Christian Science Hymnal (Hymn No. 86) came to my thought:
