SUCCESSFULLY HANDLING FALSE BELIEF

Christian Science is a demonstrable religion. Founded on the Scriptures, it is daily fulfilling the Bible promises concerning the healing of sin, sickness, and death. Such healing is the result of scientific treatment, or prayer. The student of Christian Science experiences individual regeneration in proportion to his spiritual understanding and the thoroughness with which he applies that understanding in eliminating from consciousness all misconceptions of God and man.

Christian Science logically reasons that false belief constitutes all human discord. Since God, infinite good, and His perfect spiritual creation are the only realities of existence, a misconception or false sense constitutes the only possible consciousness of error. This so-called consciousness is purely supposititious. It is entirely without entity or foundation and seems to exist only in the degree that we are deceived into accepting its distortions as realities. When we endow the lie with our credulity, we foster a false belief. Thus our own faith in its reality and consequent fear of its ability to harm invest the lie with the only power it can ever appear to have.

The great Master, Christ Jesus, came to show mankind the way of salvation from all evil. His clear perception of the omnipresence and omnipotence of God, divine Spirit, demonstrated the impossibility of error's actuality and enabled him to handle the false beliefs of sin, disease, and death with absolute assurance. Speaking with authority concerning the deceptive nature of the devil, or false belief—that which would becloud the true concept—Jesus said (John 8:44): "He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it."
