Christian Science brings to every sincere student the spiritual understanding which enables him to enjoy a harmonious life and a peace which the world can neither give nor take away. For the past fifteen years these words of the Psalmist's (23:1): "The Lord is my shepherd: I shall not want," have been a solace and have called forth my profound gratitude to God and to our revered Leader, Mary Baker Eddy. With unshakable faith and confidence I have come to realize that there is nothing equal to the comforts of a Christian Science way of life. Every student of Christian Science reflects joy, peace, health, and freedom in proportion to his understanding of the infinite God.

Some years ago, I was afflicted with diabetes and arthritis. I had been confined to my bed for days, and the greater part of the time I was in much pain, I was compelled to abandon my work and was able to secure only very brief periods of rest. Then I heard of Christian Science, and only through my own study of Christian Science, together with the loving and patient help of a practitioner, did I find relief and final cure. During this trying time I repeated over and over again the first verse of the Twenty-third Psalm, I knew that the understanding of it as interpreted in "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mrs. Eddy is a defense against whatever form of trouble assails. I took the words one by one, applying the exact definition of each word to my particular case. I was assured of victory from the start, for I was claiming God as my Shepherd. These healings have proved permanent.

There is no question that Truth leads and guides our every thought and action if we will but listen and obey. Several years ago I became stricken with a very bad case of blood poisoning. After days and nights of suffering, my condition seemed to grow very alarming in spite of my earnest effort to apply the truth and the patient and loving help of a practitioner. It was discovered that I was nursing a feeling of hate for a fellow man. I corrected my thought of this person, and instantly the healing power of Truth and Love flooded my consciousness, and the belief of hatred vanished. I soon fell asleep and slept for hours. When I awakened, I found the pain had completely gone and the condition was very much improved. It was not long before the healing was complete.
