I'LL HELP YOU

[Of Special Interest to Children]

When boys and girls first go to school, they are taught very simple truths in arithmetic, such as one and one are two, two and one are three, and two and two are four. They are shown that the relationships between these numbers are always the same. In fact, they are the same if one uses sticks, blocks, or even fingers to show the rule—one finger and one finger are two fingers.

After one has learned these lessons, he is not afraid if someone else says that one and one are three. He knows better. He knows that one and one are two, and he can prove it to the person making the mistake by showing that one finger and one finger are two fingers. The children are also taught that these truths are just as true for grownups as the are for children, and they can see that their mothers and fathers use these truths in their everyday work.

Now when boys and girls go to the Christian Science Sunday School, they too learn truths which they can use every day. There their schoolbooks are the Bible and the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. From these two books they are taught truths that are just as provable as those they learn in arithmetic. In this school they are taught that God, divine Love, is the only creator; that is, He made everything. They learn, too, that the real man is God's perfect image and likeness. Also they learn that everything God made is good, and anything which is not good is a lie, or error, just like a mistake in arithmetic. Also they learn that one can correct the seeming error by knowing that what appears to be a sick or a hurt person is really a false belief about the real man, who is God's image and likeness.
