THIS IS GOD'S DAY

Through the daily study of the Bible and the writings of Mary Baker Eddy people in many parts of the world are finding liberation from limiting beliefs. One form of mesmerism that is often accepted by mankind is the belief of overwork, of having too much to do in the time required to do it.

The writer has many times agreed with this adversary—but not quickly. Again and again she needed help from a Christian Science practitioner when suggestions against her ability to meet deadlines were so overwhelming that she was panic-stricken. Through the study of Mrs. Eddy's writings and with the help of a patient practitioner, however, she gained a joyful understanding of God's divinely ordered day. On page 584 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy defines day as "the irradiance of Life; light, the spiritual idea of Truth and Love."

In "the irradiance of Life" every idea has its perfect, unencumbered activity. The human sense of employer, business, or work can put no pressure on man, God's idea. Mrs. Eddy says (ibid., p. 451): "Christian Scientists must live under the constant pressure of the apostolic command to come out from the material world and be separate. They must renounce aggression, oppression and the pride of power." This "constant pressure of the apostolic command" is not a burden on anyone, but a joyous realization that man is the pure image of Mind, free to obey the divine command.
