UNSELFED GIVING HEALS AND SATISFIES

Everyone is seeking lasting satisfaction and peace of mind, and through Christian Science humanity is experiencing the satisfaction and joy of true, unselfed giving. Someone has rightly said, "The opening through which we give, is the measurement through which we receive." St. Paul made a great contribution in awakening thought to the importance of giving when he said (Acts 20:35),"It is more blessed to give than to receive."

Nature expresses the divine order and God's love for man in abundant giving. The sun gives light and heat, and the earth produces food and shelter; the clouds send rain and paint exquisite color effects in the heavens, and the birds give beauty and song. But to apprehend more fully the true nature of giving, it is essential to understand God, infinite Life, Truth, and Love, the only cause or origin of all substance and reality. God is always giving through His children by unfolding the attributes of Love. God is the giver, and man is the reflection, or individualized manifestation, of His giving. Operating under divine law, Truth enforces itself by means of countless spiritual identities or ideas.

On page 5 of "The First Church of Christ, Scientist, and Miscellany" Mary Baker Eddy reveals the inseparability of God and His idea, and also the substance of deific reflection, where she says, "Wholly apart from this mortal dream, this illusion and delusion of sense, Christian Science comes to reveal man as God's image, His idea, coexistent with Him—God giving all and man having all that God gives."
