The earnest student of Christian Science soon becomes acquainted with the Manual of The Mother Church by Mary Baker Eddy. He accepts our Leader's statement regarding its By-Laws and Rules (Miscellaneous Writings, p. 148): "They sprang from necessity, the logic of events,— from the immediate demand for them as a help that must be supplied to maintain the dignity and defense of our Cause."

It then follows as a necessary consequence that he will wish to unite with those who are endeavoring to govern their lives by the Church Manual and himself become an active member of The Mother Church.

Applicants are admitted to membership twice each year by The Christian Science Board of Directors. The next date of admission is June 1, 1951, and applications must reach the Clerk on or before May 1, 1951. However, to allow time for possible correspondence, applications and their accompanying questionnaires should be forwarded without delay.
