I should like to add my testimony...
I should like to add my testimony of gratitude for the glorious truths of Christian Science, which indeed make one free. It is about ten years now since I began to study Christian Science, and I am deeply grateful for all the healings, physical and mental, which I have received during this period. As my thoughts have become more imbued with the consciousness of Truth and Love, the outward expressions have been more congenial employment, more abundant supply, and more harmonious relationships in the home.
When Christian Science was first introduced to me, I was suffering from extreme neurosis. A copy of the Sentinel was sent to me through the post by a loving friend. I remember thinking, after leading the first article, that I had never before read anything written in such beautiful language. I was deeply impressed by the fact that there was no compulsion expressed. The way had been shown me, and the choice had been left entirely to me. I felt the gentle persuasion of divine Love leading me to God. I felt my burdens lifting and a wonderful sense of protection and guidance and knew that I could safely take all my problems to my heavenly Father. I contacted a practitioner, and after an enlightening talk with her, I felt completely renewed. I later visited a Reading Room, purchased a copy of the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and began studying.
My healing was slow, and I had many lessons to learn. I learned that a critical attitude only harms the one holding the thought, and I had to learn to be patient, tolerant, kind, and loving toward my neighbor. I am deeply grateful for membership in a branch church and in The Mother Church, from which I have received many blessings. The joy of service in a branch church, the loving and healing thoughts of fellow members, and the Christlike compassion of the practitioners have been beacon lights in my path Spiritward.
