I have so often been helped and encouraged by the testimonies published in the Christian Science periodicals that I feel I should contribute mine in the hope that it may benefit others.

Christian Science was first introduced to me about twenty-six years ago when, owing to the unemployment of my husband over a period of six months, we had been experiencing financial difficulties. We had a small son, so I was not able to return to business and help out. We received many kindnesses from neighbors during this time, but especially from one couple, whose loving help had a special quality which I appreciated, though I could not define it. When I heard they were Christian Scientists, I said, "Well, there must be something in Christian Science, for they are the most practical Christians I have ever met."

I was led to talk with these kind friends and they lent me the textbook, Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy, and gave me some Christian Science periodicals to read. I read nothing else for about a fortnight, but did not easily accept what I read. I lay awake at night pondering what were to me startling and revolutionary religious ideas, and I prayed earnestly to God to show me whether or not they were true. This prayer was answered, for as I began to understand a little of what I read and to attend the Sunday church services and Wednesday evening testimony meetings, I was able to make simple demonstrations which convinced me that Christian Science is the truth.
