SHEPHERD PRAYER
Bright
star of hope, O glorious focal point
Of all awakened thought that marks this day,
Here with our sheep we stand, each in his field,
Watching your rising. Flood with light our way,
That Life, not death, that Truth freed from all creed,
Be visible. Conform our hearts to yield
To your sweet guidance. Quicken us to heed
The angel song of grace and peace to earth,
And lead us where, in pure humility,
Each infant motive, thought, or unformed deed
Is urged through Spirit's gentle alchemy
To find fulfillment in triumphant birth.
So dissipate earth's night with radiance clear
Till dawn be passed and full-orbed day appear.
