Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (Fourth Church).

Dedication services were conducted in the morning, afternoon, and evening on Sunday, September 16, 1951, in Fourth Church of Christ, Scientist, Philadelphia, at 5842 Hoffman Street. The following brief history of this branch church was recounted by the First Reader:

In the spring of 1915 a band of ninety-nine persons signed the roll as charter members to organize a church in the southern part of West Philadelphia, They held their first service in what was then known as Red Men's Hall, Sixtieth Street north of Spruce Street, on May 30, 1915. This was but a temporary meeting place, and by the fall of that year the ground for this church building was purchased. A temporary building was erected, and services were held on December 26, 1915.

Ground was broken on October 21, 1927, for this present church edifice, and on April 22, 1928, the first service was conducted in this edifice.—West Philadelphia and Wynnefield News.
