"Christian Science brings to the body the sunlight of Truth, which invigorates and purifies," states Mrs. Eddy on page 162 of Science and Health.

For ten years before I found Christian Science, not a day passed that I did not have some physical discomfort. I was troubled with a pain in my back, which became so insistent that I went to see a doctor. The verdict was discouraging, and I was granted a six months' leave of absence from my business. During that time I saw a number of doctors who gave me advice, but none of them was able to give me any real relief or tell me the nature of the trouble. After the six months were up, I was feeling considerably rested, and the pain was somewhat subdued; so I decided to go back to work. I continued, but had to be absent a great deal, until I finally could work no longer.

Another doctor, in conjunction with an X-ray specialist, diagnosed the trouble as a tubercular spine. At the end of two wars the doctors said that they were sorry, but they were not able to help me any further.
