THE CHRISTIAN SCIENCE NURSE

"A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves" (Luke 10:30). These few simple words from the New Testament introduce the story of the good Samaritan who, regardless of his own convenience and with Christlike compassion, stooped to bind up the wounds and to care for the needs of the man who had fallen among thieves.

This story, or parable, told by Christ Jesus forms a fitting keynote to the work of a Christian Science nurse. Those who fall by the wayside and come temporarily under the mesmerism of sickness or injury sometimes need the quiet, compassionate tenderness and practical care of the Christian Science nurse with a demonstrable knowledge of metaphysics.

The writer, as a practitioner and teacher of Christian Science, has watched with gratitude the devotion and unselfed service of the Christian Science nurse. He has had opportunities of discussing the work with those engaged in it and from this experience feels drawn to present a few ideas which may be of assistance to the Christian Science nurse and to those also who are unfamiliar with this important branch of Christian Science healing.
