I know that Christian Science...

I know that Christian Science heals, because I have proved it and have seen it proved many times. My introduction to this Science was the instantaneous healing, through the help of a practitioner, of the effects of what the doctors had pronounced paralysis, caused by a blocked artery.

When I first began to read our precious textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, many passages seemed beyond my comprehension, but I learned that Christian Science was the truth, for it healed me of the paralysis.

One day in June, 1949, while I was in Boston to attend the Annual Meeting of The Mother Church, I fell and hit my head on the rear bumper of an automobile, receiving a deep scalp wound. I was taken to an emergency hospital, where the wound was dressed. A representative from the Almoner's office of The Mother Church came to offer assistance. She stood beside me while the dressing was being applied, and I was told that the cut had apparently closed of its own accord, so that no stitches were necessary; I experienced no pain or discomfort. The doctor expressed amazement, but said that I should spend one night, at least, in the hospital for observation, as there might be a fracture. However, I insisted that I be allowed to leave and have Christian Science treatment from a practitioner. I signed a paper releasing the hospital from any responsibility and went to my room, which was in the home of a Christian Scientist. The atmosphere of quiet there was very helpful to me. I was able to procure the help of a practitioner from my hometown who was also in Boston at that time. After she left Boston I was most fortunate in having Christian Science treatment from the one who had come to my aid in the emergency.
