Widening Fields of Activity

One of the most promising departments of the Committee on Publication work is the presentation of Christian Science through the medium of radio. It is now conservatively estimated that twelve to fourteen million listeners are hearing our Mother Church programs "The Healing Ministry of Christian Science" each week on approximately five hundred and fifty stations. The fruitage from these Christian Science programs is extremely gratifying and brings many letters and cards to our office requesting the pamphlet "Questions and Answers about Christian Science" and free literature. Other Christian Science programs made available to the nation are the broadcasts on The Columbia Church of the Air, which come to us three or four times a year. During the past twelve months our Manager of Committees on Publication in Boston has introduced a further use of radio in the presentation of interviews with members of The Christian Science Board of Lectureship, which have proved very beneficial in the increasing" of our lecture attendance.

During this past year many Christian Scientists have asked our office for information regarding the possible exemption of their children from the usual physical examinations required by the state schools. This Committee is grateful to report that almost without exception the Christian Science children have been excused from all examinations, vaccination, and health instruction.
