LETTERS TO THE PRESS FROM CHRISTIAN SCIENCE COMMITTEES ON PUBLICATION

London, England Church of England Newspaper

It was with regret that I read in the article "A Christian Looks at Science" in a recent issue the very untrue statement that to deny the validity of matter, as Christian Scientists do, "is not only to evade the issue but to make a mockery of the incarnation."

It is true that Christian Scientists regard matter from a different standpoint from that of the author of the article, but I would point out that the view of matter held by main physical scientists today is approaching that set forth over eighty ears ago by Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science. Be that as it may, I do most certainly repudiate the statement that the teachings of Christian Science "make a mockery of the incarnation."On the contrary, Christian Scientists accept and acknowledge with profound reverence that wonderful and incomparable event in Christian history so beautifully described in the Gospels.
