"He shall call upon me, and I...

"He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble" (Ps. 91:15). During the floods some time ago we proved the truth of these words. Our little weatherboard cottage is below the wall of a large dam and close to the spillway, which is fifty yards across. Over half the spillway water usually flows gently into a little creek. When the dam filled up, the flood waters roared over the whole length of the wall of the dam, one hundred and thirty yards long, and the creek was like a wide, turbulent river. It looked as if nothing could save the house. My husband advised packing a few essentials and moving up to the hill in back of us, as he thought that the foundations of the house might go and that it would be washed down the creek.

My daughter and I turned our backs on this terrifying scene and held to the fact that Truth and Love are the only sure foundation, against which the floods of mortal sense cannot prevail. While we were busily collecting a few necessities, the water at our end of the wall formed a channel twelve feet deep and ten feet wide, which carried away the floodwaters from within a few yards of our house. With a deep sense of gratitude we watched the waters subside, knowing that "the Lord God omnipotent reigneth" (Rev. 19:6). Recently an engineer who is familiar with the works here expressed amazement that the wall of the dam had net collapsed due to suction caused by the volume of the water.

In Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy we read (p. 473), "God is everywhere, and nothing apart from Him is present or has power." for this clear statement of the ever-presence of Truth and Love, I shall never cease to be grateful to Mrs. Eddy, who with unselfed love gave us the spiritual interpretation of the Bible and revealed to us the truth of God and man through the Science of Christianity. I am very grateful for church membership and for all the joy and blessings it leads to, including class instruction, which is an inestimable help in the understanding of the availability of divine power at all times.—(Mrs.) Enid E.
