"WHEN WILL THE WORLD WAKEN?"

The basis of Christian Science demonstration is perfect God and perfect man. This vital truth, when embodied and practically proved, heals sickness, dissolves sin, and destroys every form of discord. The most potent form of Christian Science treatment is the realization of God's allness and man's perfectness. Often, however, it becomes necessary for the student to handle error specifically. This seems sometimes to disturb the neophyte. Still, as he progresses in his understanding of Christian Science, he learns that if his absolute declarations of Truth do not meet the case, he must pray for Mind to reveal to him what phase of incorrect thinking needs to be uncovered and destroyed.

One of our early workers gave to the writer a simple explanation of this method of treatment. She said: "Your best treatment is to declare and affirm the truth of God and man. Then, if your case does not yield, handle the specific claim of error, reverse and deny it, until the wrong thought is displaced and Truth reigns supreme in the patient's consciousness."

To shut one's eyes to evil's supposed claims is not the teaching of Christian Science. The attitude our Leader meant her students to take towards evil is forcibly brought out in "We Knew Mary Baker Eddy." In one account is stated the following incident (p. 22): "Someone sent her a set of the three little brass monkeys—'See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil.' That, said Mrs. Eddy in substance, is not Christian Science, it is heathen philosophy. Christian Scientists do not close their eyes to evil, but open them. They open their eyes, spiritual discernment, and awaken to the true nature of evil or sin, to its false claims, methods, subtlety, etc., and then realize its nothingness, its utter powerlessness to control or to harm."
