THE HEALING EFFECT OF OBEDIENCE

The way to a complete and permanent victory over error, Christian Science reveals, is through strict and conscientious obedience to God's law. This is in perfect accord with the Master's promise (John 8:32), "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free," a promise which hints of no failure for the sincere student who consistently complies with the requirements of Love. Jesus spoke with authority on this subject, for throughout his earthly ministry he proved the practicality of obeying God in the successful application of His law to every phase of error.

Though God's liberating law is just as available today as in Jesus' time, it would sometimes appear as if our metaphysical endeavors were not always attended by a prompt and complete destruction of the offending evil, and a frustrated sense of delay, impatience, or doubt may seek to becloud our thinking. If such be the case, is it not possible that our need is to be more consecrated and obedient to the rules of divine metaphysics? The seemingly obstinate resistance of error to the application of Christian Science is supposititious, and if this false seeming has mesmerized any student into believing that his particular problem is more real or less curable than another's, he would do well to ponder more prayerfully the inspired writings of Mary Baker Eddy, the Discoverer and Founder of Christian Science.

On page 462 of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" Mrs. Eddy gives us this invaluable counsel: "Whoever would demonstrate the healing of Christian Science must abide strictly by its rules, heed every statement, and advance from the rudiments laid down. There is nothing difficult nortoilsome in this task, when the way is pointed out; but self-denial, sincerity, Christianity, and persistence alone win the prize, as they usually do in every department of life."
