Those who practice Christian Science...

Those who practice Christian Science find that God's guidance is a very available blessing. Like other young men, I have frequently wondered what the future would bring. On these occasions it has been helpful to remember the words of a friend, who said, "The Bible is full of promises," for its promises completely dispel concern for the future. Certainly Moses' assurance to all Israel is good today (Deut. 31:6), "The Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee."

But mortal mind sometimes offers its own interpretation of material evidence and argues that we have been forsaken. Bewilderment and dismay once seemed bitterly real to me when a personally outlined plan for happiness failed. It was then that I endeavored to prove Mrs. Eddy's encouraging promise that "when we wait patiently on God and seek Truth righteously, He directs our path" (Science and Health, p. 254).

The experience that followed, which included a year of study at a distant university and a tour of Europe, was so unplanned by personal sense that it could only be attributed to God's directing. Upon return from this European tour, I again faced the future undecided. Soon, however, through prayerful study of the Bible and of Science and Health and other authorized Christian Science literature, my choice of several possibilities rested upon one which fulfilled this Biblical promise (Isa. 30:21): "This is the way, walk ye in it."
