LETTERS TO THE PRESS from Christian Science Committees on Publication
Passic, New Jersey Herald News
The Carlstadt Board of Education was reported in your paper to have said that the state law makes no provision for excusing a child from being vaccinated on religious grounds.
In this instance, as in many others, the law is general rather than all-inclusive, or all-exclusive. There is no state law which compels vaccination of school children. On the contrary, the law extends to each local board of education the power to adopt an ordinance on the subject. Many local boards have done so. Some have been rigid, some have granted exceptions and exemptions, others have not taken any action.
