It is over twenty years since I first became interested in Christian Science. As young child in Australia I had heard this religion mentioned in my family, where it was looked upon as "a work of the devil." This made such an impression upon me that I determined never to inquireabout it. Later in life I came to England and met a Christian Scientist. I asked one day if I might accompany her to church. Though I remember the church, I did not follow or understand one word of the service.

Some years later much ill-health, poverty, and extreme sorrow led me to inquire into various religions, but I found that none of them could meet my need. At this time I was working with someone who was a student of Christian Science, although I did not know it at the time. I was greatly struck by her sensible and kindly views of life and her willingness to help others who were in need.

One day I found her reading The Christian Science Monitor and asked her many questions about it. I realize now how wise and patient she was, for all my queries were those of one not willing to believe. She finally recommended that I go with her to a Wednesday testimony meeting, which I did, and I derived much comfort from it and was healed of grief.
