I did not seek Christian Science...

I did not seek Christian Science for healing, although I needed one, but I read Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy to help a dear one. I saw what it was doing for this one, but I did not want to give up my church. A Christian Science practitioner lovingly informed me that I would not have to give up anything that was right. This seemed to satisfy me, and for a long time I read, but continued to go to my own church. The day came, however, when a decision had to be made, and I took my stand for the Christ, as taught in Christian Science. I attended a Christian Science church, and the uplifting joy I found caused me to continue in Science.

I have traveled far spiritually. I was graduate nurse, booked in materia medica; yet I was never satisfied in this work, knowing that there was a greater power, and I often whispered a prayer when standing by those in the shadow of death. It was, however, to an unknown God that I prayed. Mrs. Eddy says on page 465 of Science and Health, "God is incorporeal, divine, supreme, infinite Mind, Spirit, Soul, Principle, Life, Truth, Love." I have now come to know God and to love Him through faithful study of the Bible and Science and Health.

The first healing I had in Science was that of osteomyelitis. I was operated on some years before I knew of Christian Science, and a small bone was removed from one of my legs. I could walk only a short distance without experiencing excruciating pain, from which I had suffered for many years. I read Science and Health for many months before I asked a practitioner for help. She lovingly gave her support and in a short time I was walking with pain. This healing has been permanent. I have also been healed of a condition in the ear which, if I had had material help, would have called for an operation. I have been healed of constipation and many other ills, but I am most grateful for the understanding of my real self as at one with the Father. I am grateful to God and to Christ Jesus, who taught man's oneness with the Father. When this great truth seemed lost to humanity, God gave us that gentle New England woman, Mrs. Eddy, who presented the world with Christian Science. Her works will ever praise her.
