For about fifteen years from...
For about fifteen years from the time my first child was born I never knew what it was to be well. I had one operation and then another, always hoping the next one would make me well, and each time I grew worse. I was so discouraged that if it had not been for my children I should not have wanted to live. Then, when the doctors said they would have to operate again and told me there was not much they could do for me, I was led by the loving help of a practitioner to Christian Science.
I had always loved God, but not in the way Christian Science teaches. Now in my extremity I truly found Him when I was healed not only of the physical ailments which had bound me for so many years, but of many false beliefs, including unhappiness and discordant conditions in my home. The God I found in Christian Science is Truth, Life, and Love, and He creates peace and happiness and everything beautiful, good, and true. I have found that man is made in the image and likeness of God.
It is with a heart bursting with gratitude and with love for God and man that I give this testimony. I am truly grateful to God for the love and blessings He showers on His children; to Christ Jesus, our Way-shower, who endured the cross to show us the way; to Mary Baker Eddy for the unselfish love she showed in giving us this wonderful truth; to the faithful practitioners; and to all the workers in the movement. I am grateful for membership in The Mother Church and in a branch church and for the privilege of being a worker in a branch church. I am truly grateful for Christian Science.—(Mrs.) Bessie L. Bonnenfant, Auburn, California.
