I wish to give thanks to God for...

I wish to give thanks to God for some of the many blessings which have come to me and to my family through the study and application of Christian Science.

A new Christian Science church was being built in our community, and my wife and I wanted to contribute to the building fund. It was during the depression, and we had practically nothing to give except an occasional small contribution. We owned some acreage which had been subdivided into small building sites, but we had not been able to sell any of them. One day it occurred to us that we could give one of the sites to the church, but at once the suggestion came that such a gift would be no gift at all without a cash value. Then the angel thought came, "Give what you have to give," so we deeded one of the lots to the church and it was gladly accepted. Within ten days an opportunity came to sell five building sites for cash. Then appeared the next right idea, "Let the church lot be one of the five to sell for cash." We did so, and within a few days the church had the money for the building fund, and we had the cash for our other four building sites. But more good news was to come, for within the next two weeks, five more sites were sold for cash. Eventually all our building sites were sold, and we were free from all indebtedness.

We thus learned the valuable leson that "giving does not impoverish us in the service of our Maker, neither does withholding enrich us," as our Leader says (Science and Health, p. 79).
