For the many blessings I have received in Christian Science, I am sincerely grateful. I have never known anything but Christian Science and have never had medical treatment of any kind.

When my first child was born, the doctor and nurse did all they could for her, but finally the doctor said, "It is no use; the baby is dead." The Christian Science practitioner who was with me laid the baby aside and went into another room to work. In a few minutes the baby began to cry. Later the doctor told my parents that if it were not for Christian Science, neither the child nor the mother would have survived.

About thirteen years ago I suffered a nervous breakdown that took quite a long time to overcome. I was impatient at the time, but afterward I realized it was a blessing in disguise, because it made me do a great deal more studying than I might otherwise have done. I discovered the root of the trouble to be self-pity, and when I completely cast that out of my consciousness and replaced it with the desire to do good to others, I was soon healed. During this trial lockjaw manifested itself. We tried to reach a practitioner who lived in another town, but could not locate her. God knew our need, however, for just then she came to our door. She had only begun to work when I felt the stiffness lessen, and soon I was free.
