LETTERS TO THE PRESS from Christian Science Committees on Publication

Oslo, Norway Farmand

A recent issue of Farmand contained an interesting review of a book in which among others the American newspaper, The Christian Science Monitor, is mentioned in a very appreciative manner. As there are, however, in the reference to this paper a few statements which are not quite correct, I should like to request space for a correction.

The reviewer is mistaken in stating that according to the teachings of Christian Science "evil does not really exist and should he consciously ignored." To be sure, Christian Science teaches that evil in an absolute sense has no real existence, but it also teaches that evil appears to human apprehension as a reality which should neither be ignored nor tolerated, but overcome with good.
