Understanding man's Christlike qualities ensures success in human affairs
THE TRUE NATURE OF BUSINESS
Christian Science reveals that true business is activity that is in accord with divine Principle. If a business is to be successful, then, it must be based on such spiritual and moral qualities as honesty, patience, gratitude, uprightness, intelligence, and love, which are true substance.
Mortals commonly believe that a business is prosperous or otherwise in proportion to the amount of money it can accumulate. But Christian Science teaches the great fact that true success and prosperity depend upon the degree in which we replace the mortal motive of selfish getting with the spiritual motive of giving. This is the law of Love in operation, and as we live in accordance with it, we find material obstructions disappearing and progress increasingly manifested. We prove that strife, fear, limitation, greed, and unfair competition in business are wrong and unproductive. These fraudulent qualities of the carnal, so-called mind have never been true, and they are no part of true business.
The only business in which man has ever been engaged is that of reflecting the nature and attributes of God. As we identify our true selves with this business and hold to the truth that man is continuously employed by God, we shall find the suggestions of limitation, insecurity, fear of competition, and personal responsibility disappearing. Christian Science is teaching mankind the true nature of business, and we find that as our concept of right activity is purified, even the human occupation assumes a higher aspect.
