Allegan, Michigan (Society).

Christian Science Society, Allegan, dedicated their remodeled church building on Sunday, November 14, 1948, with two services, one held in the morning and the other in the afternoon. A brief history of the society was read, which follows in part.

In the summer of 1908 a small group of students of Christian Science met each Sunday in the insurance office of one of those interested and read the Lesson-Sermon. Then in December the first regular service in accord with the Manual of The Mother Church was held in the old Burton house on Cutler Street.

Later, in 1909, when the Burton house was to be sold, a room was procured for these services, and in 1910 another move was made, this time to the Doelker Block. In December of this year the group was recognized as a society by The Mother Church.

Desirous of having a home of their own, the society purchased the Hoffman house on Hubbard Street, and the first services were held on Christmas night, 1940. In June, 1946, this building was remodeled.
