PRESENTING THE CHRIST

That mankind should enjoy a full measure of health and happiness is surely most desirable. Christian Science teaches that this goal is attainable through a knowledge of the Christ, the healing and saving Truth which Jesus demonstrated in overcoming sin, sickness, and death.

In the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," Mary Baker Eddy defines Christ as follows (p. 583): "The divine manifestation of God, which comes to the flesh to destroy incarnate error." And on page 473 she explains, "Jesus is the name of the man who, more than all other men, has presented Christ, the true idea of God, healing the sick and the sinning and destroying the power of death."

Our Way-shower's life continuously manifested this redemptive Christ, Truth. His perpetual cognizance of man's spiritual sonship, of his existence as the perfect child of the heavenly Father, equipped him to annul instantly every claim to reality made by matter, or mortal mind. And he did it all to the glory of God, that those about him should recognize the Christ as the divine animus that enabled him to accomplish the mighty works which he did.
