I was brought up in the strict...

I was brought up in the strict Victorian way. My childhood home was pure, happy, and peaceful. My father was a man of great integrity, but very severe. A friend gave me a Bible, and we used to read it together. Later I married against my father's wishes. This step involved me in a whirl of circumstances difficult and frightening; but my early training and the Bible strengthened me all the time.

I taught all day, kept house, and looked after my three children, having help only when I could find it now and again. But the strain was too great. I could not go on like that, and for some time I seriously thought of taking my life.

Just here Christian Science came to me, a bright ray of hope and light that changed my whole outlook on life. It taught me what I am, who is my real Father, how inseparable man is from Him, and the nothingness of mortal mind and all its false conceptions. It has been a long struggle to understand all the beautiful truths of real being, but at last I have found the way, and I am happy.
