One testimony could never cover all the healings I have experienced in Christian Science, but I do wish to express my deep gratitude for all that this Science has meant to me for over forty-four years. I have had no other medicine, no other doctor, since 1905, when I first opened a copy of Science and Health by Mrs. Eddy and read the chapter on Prayer. Though quite young, I knew at once that I had found the truth and must own a copy of the book. My mother, who had just obtained her own first copy, lovingly purchased one for me. All my life I had known and loved the Bible, thanks to God-loving parents. Now the Bible began to take on new light and became more and more precious as our beloved Leader's writings revealed hidden truths.

How grateful I am to Mrs. Eddy for her discovery of Christian Science and for the clarity and simplicity with which she has presented the truths of her discovery. Although some of the vocabulary and topics seemed at times to be slightly beyond my youthful comprehension, always the truth was revealed to the extent needed for the demonstration to be made, and each reading and each proof brought increased understanding. This point was of special importance because my early study had to be done alone. Two months after I commenced reading Science and Health, I returned with my family to our home in Tokyo, Japan, and for the next three years had practically no contact with other students of Christian Science except through letters or periodicals sent from America.

As my father, though not a minister, was heading a mission school, he forbade me to speak of Christian Science. But, always tolerant of others' beliefs, he never opposed my study nor forced me to accept medicine or medical attention. Many healings came through my study, including those of such conditions as seasickness, earaches, sprains and bruises, measles, and even heart trouble which, only the year before, a doctor had pronounced incurable. In each case I turned with complete faith to the Bible and to Science and Health, reading until the condition cleared. The Christian Science Hymnal was also a constant companion, and the inspired messages of the hymns brought many a healing to my mother and me.
