Christian Science was first brought to my attention in May, 1935. My mental and physical condition was very poor. I was an agent at the time, and it was when I made a call at the home of a woman who was a Christian Scientist that Christian Science was presented to me. This Scientist felt my need of being freed from my burden, and so she asked me if I believed in God. I had prayed before that time, but without receiving any relief, and I told her that I did not know if there was a God.

She gave me a copy of The Herald of Christian Science (French Edition), which I read twice without understanding any of it. She had said when giving me the Herald, "If you would like to, come and see me again." I did return another day, rather through curiosity, and she invited me in very kindly and explained Christian Science to me. I left her home with new hope.

I then bought a Bible and a copy of "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy. I read the Lesson-Sermons in the Christian Science Quarterly and attended the church services regularly. Two weeks later, after I had given up medicine entirely, the burden I was bearing fell away. I felt a sense of joy and a purpose in life. Since that time I have trusted the efficacy of Truth and let it guide me.
