A young man who had been...

A young man who had been healed of hernia introduced Christian Science to me over twenty-five years ago. He told me that by reading the textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures" by Mary Baker Eddy, and with the help of a faithful practitioner, he had received his healing. I immediately procured a copy of this book, and through the first reading of it I was healed of the smoking habit and of constipation. During the past years colds, influenza, athlete's foot, lumbago, and indigestion have quickly yielded to the application of the truth.

When my place of business was destroyed by fire during the early part of World War II, the suggestion that priorities and lack of material would hinder or prevent me from re-establishing the business was overcome to the extent that in five months I was back in business with better quarters and working conditions than before the fire. The thought of being about my Father's business, the only real business, was constantly kept in mind.

Our daughter, now nineteen years of age, was brought up in Christian Science, and all suggestions of children's diseases and also of appendicitis were met quickly, sometimes with the help of practitioners. On page 392 of our textbook Mrs. Eddy tells us: "Stand porter at the door of thought. Admitting only such conclusions as you wish realized in bodily results, you will control yourself harmoniously." I have proved this many times, for In denying the suggestion of error at once and replacing it with the thought of man as God's image and likeness, it was not necessary to go through the physical manifestation of the error.
