THE SENSES OF SOUL

In the light of Christian Science one finds that the seven synonyms which our Leader, Mary Baker Eddy, gives in the Christian Science textbook, "Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures," as a definition for God together comprise the wholeness, the allness, of God. Perhaps Soul particularly gives the identifying, informing, moving, and beautifying aspect of God.

Soul identifies individual ideas and is reflected in spiritual sense, which discerns all form, beauty, color, grace, loveliness, feeling, joy, radiance, happiness, blessedness. This informing, identifying aspect of God is all that can give man information or tell him anything. The five material senses claim to inform man, but this is the reverse of what is actually true, as the textbook fully explains. On page 336 we read: "God is indivisible. A portion of God could not enter man; neither could God's fulness be reflected by a single man, else God would be manifestly finite, lose the deific character, and become less than God. Allness is the measure of the infinite, and nothing less can express God."

Sight is the accurate vision of Truth. Man, the likeness of God, reflects Mind's perfect seeing. Thus he beholds perfection in all spiritual ideas. He sees the grace, beauty, loveliness, and charm of Spirit.
